Prayer Board (F.A.C.T.S)

It is our desire that this board reflect this great treatise on prayer,

Spiritual growth is impossible apart from the practice of prayer. Just as the key to quality relationships with other people is time spent in communication, so the key to a growing relationship with the personal God of heaven and earth is time invested in speaking to Him in prayer and listening to His voice in Scripture.

As central as these twin disciplines of prayer and Scripture are to our spiritual life, most believers in Christ are frustrated by hit-or-miss approaches to both. As a result, their time in prayer and the word can become unsatisfying, routine, and even boring. It is no surprise, then, that most people spend a minimal amount of time in either of these disciplines and fail to develop intimacy with the One for whom they were created.
The problem with prayer is heightened by the fact that people often succumb either to the extreme of all form and no freedom, or the opposite extreme of all freedom and no form. The first extreme leads to a rote or impersonal approach to prayer, while the second produces an unbalanced and undisciplined prayer life that can degenerate into a litany of one “gimme” after another. - Kenneth Boa, Handbook to Prayer : Praying Scripture Back to God (Atlanta: Trinity House, 1997, c1993).
We look forward to sharing with you…

    For Derek & Connie,
because we will need God’s wisdom, patience and strength, For our family – specifically balance and health in our marriage and family, our Protection – Satan will attack us, our families, and anyone who wants to join us, for Vision – that God would guide us in planning and give us a clear vision for the new church, for a Launch Team – that God would provide the right people to form the core of the new church and finally, for Finances – that only God can provide.

    Dear Greg,
I apologize, but for some reason my home email: eph61820@bellsouth.net does not play well with ‘aol’ so I am writing from work (quickly). Catching up would be a great thing. Let me know and maybe we can grab a coffee compared to a phone conversation (like last time). Hope things are going well for you and thanks for checking out the Oasis (http://oasisgc.wordpress.com) site and commenting. It is getting there, and to be honest, it (the website) has a long way to go with the vision that I have for it. Is there anything that we can intercede with you for? We have a prayer board that we are using to share corporately as well as ‘to the ends of the earth’ as the internet allows. The ‘prayer board’ is at: http://oasisgc.wordpress.com/prayer-board-facts/

I look forward to talking with you brother, and remember to always be stunned by the gospel.

My wife and I are considering what God has for use to do in the near and long term. I am a seminary grad with some Chaplaincy experience and Cindy has a Cert in Women’s Studies from the same seminary. In the professional world she has me beat (literally makes 2+ times what I make). We have some debt that has been a slave keeper to us. Cindy has been given a new job that is to be done from home, provides almost the same income, and is mobile (anywhere in the roughly mid-atlantic area). We have a few different options and we are trying to pursue all of them to see where God would take us to serve him and in what manner.

Please pray for Andrea (Derek’s Mom). Iam employed in a toxic work environment; I applied for another job with my same employer, but in another department, with a different supervisor, and different team mates. Although the job is very much suited for me, please pray that if it is God’s will, I am offered the job at the salary I deserve. I honestly don’t know if God wants me to stay where I am (to learn something) or to have this new position. Please pray that if it’s only His will, I will be offered this new position. God Bless you.

They are very close and live together, but, the travel to Boston is very difficult for Karla, after a long day at work.

    Dear Brothers and Sisters:
I just recieved a call from my daughter Melissa in Summerville, SC. A young man in her SS Class at Summerville Baptist (married with 2 children, early 30’s) has been hospitalized for blood clots in his lungs. Apparently one was found in his leg (4 cm… I think 4mm actually) and that apparently led to testing where more than one was found in a lung. Please pray for this family. They are in dyer straights. They desperately need Christ’s comfort and healing, physically and spiritually. Also pray for Jamie’s parents who are elderly and live in Spartanburg. I am sure they are on the road to be with him. Mr. Woods does have heart problems himself…one of my chaplaincy patients when I was at SRMC.

    Brother Iannelli,
Thank you for keeping me in your mind in prayer. I am doing well with family and the ministry too. My ministry has so far expanded and much devotion and commitment is required of us despite the economic hardship here in Kenya. My wife and I have vowed not give up.

Thank you for willing to do what the Lord has shown you to do. Right now we do not have any other way of receiving money except if you go to a Western Union station around your city. Western Union is now everywhere you use them. You can also go online send it through your bank. Another way would by posting the dollars as registered parcels and then you send via post by FedEx mail delivery. It can reach us after two days. Just use the same address I gave you.

    Otherwise thank you so much.

    Friends,

I will be in Asheville, NC all day Saturday with some other friends from Columbia International University. We will be bringing the gospel to the party crowd at the Bele Chere festival. More than 365,000 people will descend on the streets of Downtown Asheville, North Carolina on July 25-27 for this three-day street party that has become one of the largest outdoor street festivals in the Southeast.

Our Lord willing, I will be leaving early Saturday morning and will return late Saturday night.

    Please pray for:
    1) more laborers for the harvest;
    2) Holy Spirit empowerment;
    3) for clear, unhindered communication of the gospel by seed sowing, conversation and open-air proclamation (as the Lord leads);
    4) true conversions;
    5) energy (especially as I wrestle with asthma and allergies).

Thank you for your partnership in this ministry. Carry on boldly in the name of our Lord Jesus as He gives you opportunity!

Sharing the faith while there’s still time,

I would appreciate your prayers greatly for finances and school. I am asking the Lord to provide for me to be able to purchase school clothes for my kids. I just found out every pair of shorts my son has violates the school dress code (no elastic waist athletic shorts). I can’t afford to buy all four children new wardrobes, but because of their growth spurts over the summer they need them.

I would also like you to pray for God to lead me in school, as I prepare to graduate this fall, and that God will help me continue on my path to graduating with honors. I am trusting Him to meet the financial need involved with this final semester.

Lastly, I am beginning to pray God will prepare me for love. I haven’t dated seriously since my divorce, and I have started to feel a desire to start dating again. This time I want to be with the man God wants me to be with, and if you guys can agree with me I would appreciate it. Pray God will prepare his heart as well, whoever he is, that he will be open to the responsibility of my children when the time is right.

    Dear Brothes and Sisters:
I am sorry I haven’t been in contact with some of you for awhile, but, I can’t help but ask humbly for your prayers over the next few months. Many of you know that in July we moved to Summerville, SC (20 or so miles from Charleston) to be with our eldest daughter and her family. Pretty much circling up the wagons to aid Jeff and Melissa in maintaining there house while Jeff’s contracting business was…well we all know that realestate and realestate finance dependent jobs are hurting in the extreme after years of large bubble. We are able to help but not terribly much right now. Please pray for our family as we work through these problems and as Jeff’s new business (minus a shaky partner) gets off the ground and as we knit together under one big roof.

I also ask that you all please pray for me as I am preparing to write what maybe the most important email of my middle aged life. Friday night I attended a Banquet put on by the School of Education at my Alma Mater, The Citadel, to honor some worthy citizens who had graduated from Citadel programs and/or been benefators to the Ed program. I recieved an award from the Department (before we were a School) when I graduated and was invited. If not for my dear wife, I would not have attended. A little hurt pride (semi-employed right now) and just tired after a couple of tough weeks. It was a very good time as a few of my now retired professors were there and we had a good time meeting a couple of cadets and other friends of the School of Education, including a dear brother who I knew in BSU who helped to sponsor the evening (he is now listening to Sinclair Ferguson every Sunday at 1st Pres Columbia, SC for my Reformed friends). However, the personal highlight was running into Dr. Ouzts, a recently retired prof of mine who is still very active (emeritus faculty) in the program. He is probably the Mr. Chips (think of old black and white movie about the Latin Master of a British boys school), of The Citadel School of Education. We talked for most of the 90 minutes after the formal program when he said, “Greg, you need to apply to be a consultant for the School!” Of course, having only a little experience in the classroom and nothing really to commend me to a College classroom, I fumbled. “Thank you Dr. Ouztz, but what could I do?” “Pastoral Counseling! The School could foot the bill, and the cadets need more personal counseling. It is a tough time.” Kathy, the admin goddess we had been sitting with heartily agreed. So, within a few minutes, I will email Dr. Ouztz with my resume and some explanation and my strong desire to serve our Triune God and Savior by serving cadets at a place I love and had so much impact on my life. I do not know if anything will come of it, or if it does what that maybe. But I most humbly beg you all to pray for opportunity to develop in a way that brings Him the most glory and I hope puts me in a place to serve Him that will use the gifts and experiences He has given me.
    In Christ Alone,

    Hello Derek!
I trust you are savoring Christ today! I wanted to let you know that beginning the first of the new year I will be making a ministry transition. I’ll still be part of our Sovereign Grace Church here in Greenville. My counseling activities with NANC since my Fellowship have ratcheted up and Jim and I are in faith that this would be a good and necessary fit for me. God has granted so much favor through the blog, NANC, Fellow supervision, etc.

I have several things for you to prayerfully consider. Here’s the list:
    1. Pray for Rick and Lucia as we make this transition.
    2. The bottom-line deal is we’re in faith God will use this endeavor to pay our bills. Prayer would be appreciated.
    3. Would you know of anyone who would be willing to advertise my blog? You can find a banner here that can be placed on any blog or website: http://competentcounseling.com/grab-this/
    4. Here is the list of things I’ll be doing so any referrals would be appreciated (and it’s all fee based):
    a. Personal or couple counseling
    b. Church consultation, analysis and vision
    c. Small group equipping
    d. Seminars, teaching on any subject
    e. NANC certification supervision
    f. Telephone counseling

If you know of anyone or church that could use my services I’d appreciate the hook-up. You’ve read enough about me and know enough about SGM to have a good idea about my approach.

Thank you for your prayers and thank you for reading this email.

    Much grace to you!
    Rick

    Friends,

As we prepare for the coming months of discipleship and ministry, I want to ask you boldly to please pray for me and my family. There is so much work to be done and I need focus, wisdom and discernment regarding what our Lord wants us to learn as we press on through further evangelism training. Moreso, our Lord reminds us the fields are ready for harvest and the laborers are few, so please ask the Lord of the Harvest to provide more workers. And the lost. Pray for the lost.

Would you please dedicate a focused time of prayer for these things? As you are praying, would you join me in praying for these three people I am corresponding with?

    1) Dorkas lives in Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. She is a new Christian and wrote me asking to pray for her family. No other details at this time. There may be persecution involved;

    2) Manpreet lives in New Delhi. He is not a Christian and has been reading some books that bring together teachings of world religions toward “enlightenment.” He wrote me this morning about his sudden concern that the people in the books are not real and the teachings are confusing to him. Pray that God opens the eyes of his heart.

    3) Fatah lives in the United Arab Emirates prayed just this morning to ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save him. Pray he finds a fellowship of believers.

    Thank you brothers and sisters.

This is a request for prayer for YWAM (Youth With a Mission) missionaries and their churches in Orissa, India . The request came from Mable Hurst, an associate of HCJB Global. Please read and make this a matter of urgent prayer.

Dear beloved sponsors and friends of Good News India . We have never seen anything like this. We knew that Orissa was the most resistant and hostile State in India as far as the Gospel is concerned. And we brushed off the continuous threats and harassment we faced as we went about His work. But none of our staff imagined that they would see this kind of carnage…. And it seems to be totally under the radar of the Western Media ….

Let me explain…. A militant Hindu priest and 4 of his attendants, who were zealously going around the villages of Orissa and ‘reconverting’ people back to Hinduism, were gunned down by unknown assailants in Central Orissa last weekend. Immediately the Christians were blamed. The cry rose up…’Kill the Christians!’
And the horror began…. In the past 4 days, we have first hand witness to hundreds of churches being blown up or burned and many, many dozens of Christian tribals have been slaughtered. For no other reason than they bear the name of Christ.

Night and day I have been in touch with our Good News India Directors spread across 14 Dream Centers in Orissa… they are right in the middle of all this chaos. In Tihidi, just after the police came to offer protection, a group of 70 blood-thirsty militants came to kill our staff and destroy the home. They were not allowed to get in, but they did a lot of damage to our Dream Center by throwing rocks and bricks and smashing our gate, etc. They have promised to come back and ‘finish the job.’

Our kids and staff are locked inside and have stayed that way with doors and windows shut for the past 3 days. It has been a time of desperately calling on the Lord in prayer. More police have come to offer protection. In Kalahandi, the police and some local sympathizers got to our dream center and gave our staff and kids about 3 minutes notice to vacate. No one had time to even grab a change of clothes or any personal belonging. As they fled, the blood thirsty mob came to kill everyone in the building. We would have had a mass funeral there, but for His grace. In Phulbani, the mob came looking for Christian homes and missions. The local Hindu people, our neighbors turned them away by saying that there were no Christians in this area So they left.. We had favor. The same thing happened in Balasore.

All our dream centers are under lock down with the kids and staff huddled inside and police outside. The fanatics are circling outside waiting for a chance to kill. Others were not so fortunate. In a nearby Catholic orphanage, the mob allowed the kids to leave and locked up a Priest and a computer teacher in house and burned them to death. Many believers have been killed and hacked into pieces and left on the road…. even women and children. At another orphanage run by another organization, when this began, the Director and his wife jumped on their motorbike and simply fled, leaving all the children and staff behind. Every one of our GNI directors that I have spoken to said: ‘We stay with our kids…. we live together or die together, but we will never abandon what God has called us to do.’ More than 5000 Christian families have had their homes burned or destroyed. They have fled into the jungles and are living in great fear waiting for the authorities to bring about peace. But so far, no peace is foreseen.

This will continue for another 10 days…. supposedly the 14 day mourning period for the slain Hindu priest. Many more Christians will die and their houses destroyed. Many more churches will be smashed down. The Federal government is trying to restore order and perhaps things will calm down. We ask for your prayers. Only the Hand of God can calm this storm. None of us know the meaning of persecution. But now our kids and staff know what that means. So many of our kids coming from Hindu backgrounds are confused and totally bewildered at what is happening around them. So many of their guardians have fled into the jungles and are unable to come and get them during these trying times.

Through all this, I am more determined than ever to continue with our goal: the transformation of a community by transforming its children. Orissa will be saved… that is our heart’s cry. If we can take these thousands of throw-away children and help them to become disciples of Jesus, they will transform an entire region. It is a long term goal, but it is strategic thinking in terms of the Great Commission.

What can you do? First, please uphold all this in fervent prayer. Second, pass this e-mail on to as many friends as you can. We must get the word out and increase our prayer base for this is spiritual warfare at its most basic meaning. We are literally fighting the devil in order to live for His Kingdom. The next 10 days are crucial. We pray for peace and calm to pervade across Orissa.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please pass it on and help us to get as many people to partner with us on this cutting edge effort to fulfill His mandate: Go and make disciples of all nations…. Prayer works!

    Blessings,

I’ve been corresponding the last few days with Manpreet, a 17-year old who lives in New Delhi, India. He is a disciple of the Sikh religion and wants very badly to be a follower of God. This is an interesting statement, coming from Sikh. Sikhism teaches (basically) that God is an impersonal force, but that He is the Creator and inner teacher who manifests Himself as the Universe. Gurus are “saints” who embody “divine light” and salvation is achieved by uniting with God–become “one” with the Universe.

Just a few minutes ago, I sent him a formal gospel presentation. Please pray for “tongues” (as it were). His English is ok and I wrote as simply as possible. Please pray he understands, that communication would be unhindered and they eyes of his heart would be opened. He contacted me initially through this website: http://www.trueloveandgod.com/ of which I am an Online Missionary. We’ve been working through many questions.

    Thanks.

Specific prayer requests…right now we could use prayer on a couple things. 1) Negotiating with the co-owners of a building that has a ton of potential for ministry downtown. They want to sell…we’re presenting some creative financial scenarios and holding our breath. 2) Coming up is a chance for me to meet with the head of the community association where we want to minister and serve. I’d love to see a solid connection there.

    Friends,

Leslie and I will be visiting with Abdullah tonight around 8:00. We are taking him some food. I talked with him on the phone again today and he told me that he has been coming up short in paying his child support. When he took what money he did have to the court, the judge did not arrest him because he was attempting to make payment with “something.” The thought of going to jail scared him half out of his wits–he was very shaken! He instantly began lamenting about being such a poor, weak Muslim and his need to “get right.”

Please pray for our sensitivity in talking with him and with the judicial system so close to his experience, please pray he can see his need for Christ when he understands how he has broken God’s moral law and the need for cleansing from sin.

In case you did not get it from Facebook, I have attached a picture of Abdullah (a bit fuzzy, but oh well).

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
James 5 (NKJV) 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone
cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and
pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of
    a righteous man avails much.
Matthew 18:20 (NKJV) For where two or three are gathered together in My name,
I am there in the midst of them.”
2 Samuel 22:7 (NKJV) In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to
my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry entered His ears.
James 1:17 (NKJV) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and
comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or
    shadow of turning.
Mark 9:36-38 (NKJV) 36 Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of
them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37 “Whoever
receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever
receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”
James 4:3 (NKJV) 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you
may spend it on your pleasures.
1 Corinthians 5:3-5 (NKJV) 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you
are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus
Christ, 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that
his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

FROM LAST NIGHT’S PRAYER REQUEST: Derek lingered on and was inspired by the quote below from Tim Chester’s “Total Church”

“Rather than expecting church members to adapt to these life changes on their own, others have thought together about what changes it means for them as a church. They have reviewed their their weekly meeting times, rethought their gospel opportunities, and shared responsibilities.”

Derek also is thankful for the opportunity to meet with Gapo and prays that Gapo comes to a saving grace.

    Urgent Prayer,

Prayer Request and Up-Date from AZ Squadron:
Prayer needed for Mark Doub. This is from the wife, Jo.
My daughter and I had to take Mark to the ER again last night. We didn’t get
home until 4:00 a.m. so I’m operating on adrinaline right now. However, I
wanted you to know that not only is Mark completely filled with excess fluids,
he has an infection. We talked to the hospital doctor tonight and she told us
Mark has several abcesses floating around inside the fluid at the bottom of
the abdomen and that is what is causing all of Mark’s pain. She has requested
our surgeon to see Mark tomorrow along with this specialist in infections.
Our oncologist will return tomorrow as well. This team of doctors will have
to counsel together to try and determine the best next step/treatment for
    Mark.

I’m reserving that diagnosis of abcesses until our oncologist reports to us
tomorrow morning. Show Low Hospital tried to tell us he had an abcess and it
turned out to be a hematoma.

Mark is pretty upset, right now at the possibility of surgery. The Dilaudid
impairs Mark’s thinking and has affected his hearing. Dr. Ray also mentioned
they might elect to go through the infected belly area to get to the abcesses.
That really set Mark off and he told her under no uncertain terms that no one
was to touch that area w/o putting him out! This is the area that is so
tender and painful! He’s been in more pain today despite the Dilaudid too.
This doctor ordered a pain patch plus increased his Dilaudid to every 2 hours
    instead of every 4 hours.

Pray for all the doctors that will filter through Mark’s room tomorrow that
they will have real wisdom in determining the next step. My daughter-in-law
is staying with me at the hospital tomorrow morning to help me to understand
and not get too overwhelmed with all the medical information that will
    probably get thrown at us.

    Thanks.
    In His Grip,
    Jo

Shell Shocker 6 and Covert 2 are headed to Asia this morning to be on

    11. They will be in enemy territory and my spirit is troubled. Pray for their
safe travel and return, that they would find favor in their meetings, and that
the Lord would go before them and prepare the hearts of those around them for
the Gospel to be heard. Above all pray that God would be glorified.

Shell Shocker 6 and Covert 2 under attack.
Shell Shocker 6 and Covert 2 are being allowed to reenter the hotel. They will
be quarantined in the hotel for 1 week. We prayed this morning that Gods plan
would be our plan (ISA 30:1) and that His thoughts would be our thoughts, His
ways would be our ways (ISA 55:8-9) and that all things work together for
those that love Me (ROM 8:28).
For the next week they will have a captive audience in that hotel to share the
good news of Jesus Christ. God has strategically placed people in that hotel
for this reason. Pray that the Spirit has gone before them to prepare their
hearts. May God be glorified. Halleluiah.

decisions that I am sure sank into his head and heart…we also know that we
cannot hate “Body Heat”…we must forgive and ask God to have mercy on their
souls as well…as our battle is being played out in the Heavenlies against
the devil and not flesh and blood…(Ephesians 6) …and with God in control.
We have received blessings of money to pay off the bail bond as well as more
used toward the lawyer fees…and many cards and emails that are helping to
sustain us…Todd is in the process of moving out of his apartment to reside
with us…to free up money that is needed for fees…and to be out of that
environment as well…and to be close to his brother and parents as we listen
and learn from God together. Your prayers are making the difference and we
would love to hear from you…all emails are copied so my wife Cindy and son

    Praise The Father,

    Report from Shell Shocker 6
    Dear Friends and Family:

After a 23 hr trip, I arrived home about midnight and it feels great to be home. I have a lot of stories to tell and when I arrived home the TV stations in Charlotte were at the airport. Book will be for sale late June (Ha). Hope to contact with most of you in the near future.

One story: There was a lady in her early 40s from Iran. When I got to camp she was sitting off to the corner. The only non Chinese face in the crowd. I went over to her not knowing her story, but looking very sad. I tried to cheer her up by saying, Hi did you send for me. At first I thought she was American and I just wanted to make her smile. She had been there 2 days and was scared and alone. She had trouble with English, but knew no Chinese. We told her we would help her and protect her. The next morning she started to cry and told us that she had cried out to God the night before we came and told Him she could not do this. She could not work the air conditioner and was getting sick on the food. No one was helping her until we came. I told her that we were here now so God heard her prayer. She cried again. She basically hung like glue to us and this was interesting because she was Muslim and we were Christian, but she did not care. All the normal barriers were removed. We had some very good discussions on our beliefs.

Finally the Chinese brought in some books and magazines the fourth day because everyone was so bored and I had asked them to bring anything. It was very interesting that they brought only 4 books, but one was the “Purpose Driven Life” . I grabbed it and gave it to my Iranian friend. She asked me to please sign the book and I did saying that may one day she enjoy the relationship with God the book talks about. Before leaving she asked for a Bible and we only had or own. Cam decided to give her his Bible. She was going to Japan to work as a pastry chef. We hope to stay in touch.

I learned that Americans are the only ones in a situation that speak up and question. Most suffer and go along with things even if there own children are not getting what they need. Cam and I got involved in everyone’s life and even the camp people would relate to us. I would initiate conversation with all the officials and they responded. Most of the people said nothing to anyone.

Thanks Again I really Felt all the Prayers,
    Bless You
God has not written the end of this story yet.
    Pete

I have to have a biopsy on a mass in my right breast tomorrow morning at 10 am. I had found the mass in December, and they put off tests due to the car accident which happened two weeks later. When they did an ultrasound to assess the damage they apparently noted the mass and said follow up in four months. I went back for my follow up appointment last week and they found the mass has changed in composition, and so I have to have the biopsy. I would appreciate your prayers.

My daughter, Melody Joy, goes in tomorrow, Thursday the 28th, for her second
sugery. This one is more invasive than the first one. The first surgery was
to create an ostomy so that the bottom of her colon would be cleaned out for
    the second surgery.

This surgery is where they will fix the defects. It is a relocation surgery
that will take between 2 and 4 hours. Please pray for no complications and
that everything would flow smoothly and quickly and that there would be no
    post surgery problems.
Thank you for all of your prayers so far. God’s grace has sustained us
    through this.
On a side note, pray for me because when this is all over, I will be going

    Dear Saints on Earth,

Thank you all for your prayers. I saw God’s miracles. Last Weekend, I wented for a weekend challenge at Kiu Mixed High School in Eastern Kenya. I say God calling the staff and students to the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ. On Sunday I also ministered in the Local Church where many renewed their faith and eleven people coming to know the Lord. So may you pray for the following:
    1. Pray that God may continue to make himself know to that school 2. That those who came to Jesus may stand firm in faith.
    3. That people may shun the worship of animism and ancestral spirits.
    4. Pray also for the Lord to provide a car for minsitry 5. I travel all the time by public means which are not all the time safe. Saints of God, we are travelling as a family to Eastern part of Kenya for an academic mission. I am going to teach a course on “Church and the Last Days” traditionally known as Eschatology. This is an a two week’s intensive course for a degree level institution. Please pray for the four of us my wife three children. We are travelling by public means which is usually risky in the present Kenyan roads. The trip will take 12 hours and we can all imagine how tired we shall be especially the children ofcourse we would be 95 % sure of safety if we had our own car. Join us also in prayer for meals and accomdation for two weeks as we teach there in the school. The teaching begins on 9th July 2009.

Some of you may still remeber how I sacrificed at CIU for 3.5 years a way from my family to prepare for the ministry here in Kenya. Now I thank God for helping me fulfil my promise to come back home to be with my family and uplift the name of Jesus who is the Christ. We do work without salaries but we giving our lives and time for the whole Gospel of salvation. We live in the city of Nairobi for this is where God has called us. Although we do know that money cannot solve our problems if we do not trust God, I want to be honest to say that our monthly need would be meet when God provides atleat $ 1000-2000. And we know nothing is impossible for God.

May God bless you and continue to provide for you.

    Please Pray For,

    Dear Friends,

Thank all of you, our dear friends for your prayerful support in various capacities over the past few months (family matters, personal matters–I’m feeling much better, by the way–job matters, ministry matters, etc). I’ve not been to the doctor about my sudden (and extremely painful) “visitation” over the weekend following our evangelism outing, but I believe the Lord has healed as I’ve had no recurring incidents. I did spend all day Sunday in bed quite sick, but am feeling fully recovered as of yesterday.

We have an immediate prayer request. We are right at $380.00 short this month ($125 for rent, and $255 for electric bill due July 10) and we could sure use your prayerful support again. Our landlord is not going to charge us a late fee, but the electric can’t wait. We probably could have “made it” this month if we were not surprised by an unforseen increase in a bill that is paid by automatic draft from our bank account.
I know this is rather bold, and pray nobody is offended. If I have stepped out of line, please talk with me. As of July 1, I have taken on significant additional duties at the University while we still remain under a mandatory pay cut (the Doctor of Ministry program in addition to the Biblical Ministry Certificate, Master of Arts and Master of Divinity specialized programs that I’ve been working with since 2001). I talked with our Human Resources manager about recieving a pay adjustment that takes my additional duties into account, or the need to find another job. Please pray for a positive and immediate response. I have been trying for some time now to sell many of my books and other items from my personal library. If you know of anyone who is interested in any of the following, I will be glad to see they receive their item of choice (no shipping charges if local!).

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM JULY 8 (Transcribed as close as possible from my chicken scratch)

Please pray for our Oasis members, attendees and their families. This prayer board post is 10 days, so some of these prayers may have already been blessed by the Father, but a little extra wouldn’t hurt. My prayer below reflects that this is the second time I’ve posted our Missional Community’s prayers late.

Ashley – wants to know God better (since the 8th Ashley has asked Jesus into her heart, praise God!)

Chris – I need to have help with my thoughts (thought life), because my thoughts can get out of control

George – I pray for guidance in my life, and that God would be in my mind and thoughts more often throughout the day. I pray that God would tear the “me” out of me and fill it (dying more to the self, and purposeful thinking of the Lord). Also for safe travel to and from NMB.

Derek – faithfulness, not only in preparing in my life, but also for faithfulness in confession; Derek also prays for brokenness.

Mike – (prayer for guidance) I want to pray that these people God’s put in my life that I would know what he wants me to do to help them. Also in light of a phone call from Mike today for safe travel to and from his Dad’s

Kia – Vicki still in MI @ hospital trying to get relief for headaches
    – Our living situation: that God will guide our directions and open up an affordable place for us to go
    – Kandace needs surgery on her shoulder in the next couple of weeks

John – that my testimony tonight, not praying selfishly, that Jesus would show people what he wants for them

Marcus – that his ear would feel better

Lynn – I want God’s heart for unbelievers

  177. 2009 August 14

Please be in prayer for Sanctuary, whose community is reaching out and engaging CoC’s College students. As Shawn put it “…we are praying and planning to be a church that is intentional in its relationship with the college community in our city.”

Father, we ask blessings on Sanctuary’s community and pray that they “get to” make meaningful relationships for your glory with the students of CoC. As Shawn also put it, the relationships of the college student’s with Sanctuary’s community is a valuable thing, and I’d add that those relationships must also be a tremendous blessing – both for the students and Sanctuary’s community. Because with God, both the servant and the one(s) being served are blessed!

When Melody was to recover from her last surgery, the plan was to find a job immediately. That has not happened. Right now we are financially strapped and are barely making it. This has not only taken its toll on the finances but on me as well. It is incredibly frustrating to me that my wife is working full time and I am still at home watching the kids. I am trying to keep myself from getting depressed. I don’t know what to do.

Recently, I came out of a very dark time in my life and things have been changing. I am going to a new church, and God is doing great things in the Spirit. He opened up the whole Worship venue to me again, which is awesome. There is a part of me that is strongly saying, “Take a step of faith and record your songs and send them out.” But, I don’t have the musical equipment or the computer that is capable of doing that anymore. I am feeling trapped like I will be stuck like this for a very, very, very long time. I am sorry to open up to you guys like this, but I need to get out of this rut! I need some sort of jump start or something. I really need a job. Please pray!

Please pray for Dianne’s mom (a friend of Daryl),

Pray for Dianne and her family. At the moment we are waiting to hear from Dianne’s family concerning Dianne’s mom. She is in her late 80s. Husband in heaven. Two sons in heaven. Mom is ready for heaven too. Of course, it is never easy to release your mom. Dianne’s mom has outlived all her family except for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. It will be painful and bitter sweet. Her body is frail. Her mind comes and goes. She looks forward to seeing the rest of her family again. We will probably leave later tonight or in the morning to check in on her.

Update: The doctors believe Dianne’s mom is having mini strokes- She is in the hospital at this time.

Please pray that she will be home soon with her family. Being around her loving family and friends will most certainly help her with her recovery. Father please help Dianne’s mom. Please hold her in your arms, your warm loving arms and help her begin to heal. Please keep Dianne in your beautiful, comforting light and reach out to her and let her rest upon your strong merciful shoulders. She needs you so much now Father.

Please say a special prayer for Dan,

Father, Dan and his wife need to know that you are with them and that they will find peace again through you and your strength and grace. Please guide them through their pain Father and free them through the notion that Nicholas is with you now, and you God will always be there for them sheltering them in the warmth of your shining light.

    Christine

The following is to Dan from Derek,

    Dan,

I am sorry to hear about your son.I wanted to take a moment to send you this note of sympathy upon hearing of the loss of your son.

The pain you are feeling at this time must be intense. Most likely, there are questions of “why” those are part of your thoughts, and even as you have shared with each other your thoughts and emotions.

While I may not be able to feel exactly what you are feeling right now, I want to assure you that I am ready and willing to listen to you, and share with you from my heart about the goodness of God.

I do not have any words that will “fix everything”, however, I do know that God has promised to be with us through every storm and trial of life, and that somehow you will get through this. Your comfort can come from the Comforter who is the Holy Spirit. The Bible says in: John 16:7 – Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

When Jesus was here on earth, He was limited by time and space, however when He sent the precious Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost He is now present at all times, and in all places, and is available to help you now, and in the days and months ahead.

I want you to know that during this very difficult time, we will be praying for you, and trusting that God will be your portion and help, as well as comfort your entire family.

If you already have a church family, I want to encourage you to draw strength from those friends around you.

    Respectfully Yours,
    Derek Iannelli-Smith

Thanks so much for this privilege of adding my prayer request. I am a pastor at a Baptist church on the coast of NC. I am in my 9th year. God has grown a wonderful group of believers through the years that love the word of God. It’s a long story, but the past couple of years have been very difficult financially. So much so that we are at the point of asking our staff to work part time or resign; we have no other options left. We understand that God is sovereign and we are depending on Him, hence my prayer request. We would be extremely grateful for your prayers. Thanks and God bless!

As far as prayer, October is a super busy month for us with Fall Festivals, youth stuff, school, etc… I could use some focus and discernment about what things need to take priority. On the upside, we had “youth Sunday” this past Sunday and people were really moved by the worship and testimonies from our kids. We are really moving towards, for lack of a better word, integrated vision for our youth. Sunday night one of the students that I have been praying for almost since day one gave his life completely to Christ. It was an incredibly powerful moment as he has been on the fence for a while. He has been through a lot this year including the loss of both of his grandmothers, who he was close to, his mother was diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing chemo, his best friend was killed while they were riding 4-wheelers together, along with typical teenager stuff. He is a gifted young leader and an incredibly honest young man. When he called me late that night I was a little nervous because he’s been through so much, but he was weeping about the overwhelming knowledge of God in His life andthat he knew he couldn’t ignore Him any more. Pretty powerful stuff. Of course the next day a parent told our pastor that she was upset that I didn’t plan further ahead because I forgot to ask someone to bring cheese and sour cream for our chili fundraiser. In other words, the roller coaster of youth ministry goes on and I could always use a covering of prayer for that!!!

    Thanks again for everything!

    In His hands,
    David

It is great blessing for our family that the position of our coming baby has little changed .give thank to God.

Our first baby was born by operation as doctor suggests this time also we should to ready for that. The delivery date is12th to 15th January. But the Operation is very costly here, expenses will be near 800$…. It is a so big amount for our family. We are praying & thinking for it. We request you please pray for us so that we can get this amount & can go to hospital in time.

We believe Prayer can do everything, please keep this prayer to God so that He shows his great miracles among our family.
